Range Rover information

The Range Rover was introduced in 1970 and was an instant hit. The simple design was resistant, practical and high-performance compared to previous models. The off-road paneled aluminum body quickly paved its way to becoming the leader in 4WD off-roading.

Powered by the 3.5-litre V8 Rover light-alloy unit, the First Edition is commonly referred to as the “classic Range Rover” and shares the same engine unit as the Morgan +8. Although it was built with high performance off-road capabilities, this vehicle remained a luxury vehicle that truly created a whole new market for itself with luxury off-road SUVs. After 11 years in production, the car was launched with a 5-door option, with previous models only available with a 3-door.

The car’s interior has been improved, with also notable changes to the bodywork and the introduction of a BMW 2.5-liter engine in the Mark II. The Mark II was introduced with a series of exclusive limited edition models, all to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Range Rover. Continued victorious off-road sales saw the luxury off-road vehicle exported to America, with previous models only available as gray imports. Sales and popularity of the car continued.

The car’s exclusive and luxury image was enhanced with new off-road variations in 2003. The Range Rover Vogue was introduced as the top model in the range. The RR Sport saw the Range Rover’s appeal to the high-end market as the vehicle was road-based, although the Sport hasn’t lost its ancestral roots and can still handle off-road quite well. With the growth of the off-road SUV market, the car has achieved very fruitful sales and is still the market leader.
